KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Pakistan’s national energy company, hosted the PSO Excellence Awards 2026 in Karachi, bringing together dealer partners from across the country to recognise outstanding retail performance and to reaffirm a shared national responsibility: keeping fuel flowing to every corner of Pakistan, in all conditions, without interruption.
The ceremony was attended by PSO’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jawwad Ahmed Cheema, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Amir Zaib Khan, senior management, dealer partners and employees.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Jawwad Ahmed Cheema, CEO – PSO, said, “PSO is not simply the largest fuel retailer in this country. We are the national oil company, and that carries an obligation we do not take lightly. When supply is tight, when demand surges, when a route is difficult or a region is remote, the country looks to PSO. Our commitment is simple and absolute: fuelling Pakistan, every day, no exceptions. That commitment is not delivered from a head office. It is delivered at the forecourt, by our dealers, one customer at a time. Our dealers are the cornerstone of Pakistan’s energy security.”
He added, “The market we operate in is changing faster than at any point in our history new entrants, new formats, new customer expectations, and customers who will not wait. Loyalty is earned at every fill. Where we have lost ground, we intend to win it back, and we intend to win it back on merit: better sites, better service, better standards, better technology. That requires flawless execution at every single site accurate volumes, zero compromise on quality and safety, clean forecourts, trained staff, and a customer who leaves knowing they were served properly. Good enough is not good enough. The bar we are setting is the best in the market, and then better than that.”
He further stated that, “So these awards are about far more than recognising last year’s numbers. They are about the partnership that makes our strategy real. I want to thank our dealers for the role they play every day often under demanding circumstances in serving customers, holding our standards and keeping Pakistan moving. As we enter the next phase of PSO’s journey, we will invest more in this network, expect more from it, and share the rewards of getting ahead of the market rather than reacting to it.”
Awards were presented to top-performing dealers from across the country in recognition of their commercial achievements and adherence to the highest retail standards. Members of PSO’s commercial team were also recognised for their contribution to strengthening the network and supporting dealer performance.
As the country’s largest oil marketing company, PSO carries an obligation that no other player in the sector carries. It supplies the strategic reserves that underpin national fuel security, serves markets that are commercially difficult but nationally essential, and remains the supplier of last resort when the market comes under stress. That obligation is discharged, in practice, at more than 3,600+ forecourts run by PSO’s dealer partners. They are the cornerstone of the company’s ability to deliver on its promise to the people of Pakistan.
The awards recognised dealer partners who demonstrated excellence in commercial performance, operational and HSE standards, customer service and adoption of best practice setting the benchmark for the wider PSO retail network.
PSO’s retail business is entering its most ambitious phase of transformation in years. The company is executing a multi-year network master plan covering new site development, the modernisation and rebranding of existing sites, automation and tank-gauging, a rebuilt digital and loyalty proposition, and a sharply upgraded non-fuel retail offer. The intent is not incremental improvement, it is to close the gap where PSO has ceded ground, to reclaim the share the company should rightfully hold in every trade area of the country, and to set the standard for fuel retail in Pakistan.
PSO’s retail agenda is focused on network growth and modernisation, operational excellence and HSE discipline, customer centricity, digitalisation of the customer journey, and delivering greater value at every touchpoint. The company sees its dealer network as the decisive enabler of this agenda and is building a more collaborative partnership model centred on shared investment, shared standards and shared growth.
Dealer partners, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to PSO and pledged continued cooperation in raising service standards, strengthening operational discipline and adopting leading retail practices across the network.
The PSO Excellence Awards 2026 underline a clear ambition: to build not only the largest retail network in Pakistan, but the most trusted, most modern and most customer-focused energy retail network in the country and, through it, to discharge PSO’s national responsibility to secure the energy that powers Pakistan’s homes, industry and mobility.
Pakistan’s energy. Our responsibility. Delivered together with PSO’s people, its dealers and its customers at the centre of the journey.
