Pakistan, Kuwait discuss expanding cooperation in energy sector

Kuwait : Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, held a meeting in Kuwait with Tariq Sulaiman Al-Roumi, Minister of Oil of the State of Kuwait, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the petroleum sector.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), the CEO of KUFPEC, along with their senior management teams. The Pakistani delegation included the Managing Director of Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Ahmed Hayat Lak and the General Manager (Supplies) of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said relationship between both countries is rooted in mutual respect, trust, and decades-long cooperation, especially in petroleum sector.

The visit was undertaken on the invitation of Kuwait’s minister of Oil. CEOs of Kuwait Petroleum , KUFPEC and Q8 were also present.
Matters regarding cooperation between Kuwait and Pakistan in upstream petroleum sector came under discussion. It has been agreed that a technical team would soon visit Pakistan to evaluate potential opportunities in OGDC’s exploration licences.
It has also been agreed to expand cooperation between PSO and Kuwait Petroleum.
Further, Kuwaiti side expressed interest in the downstream sector for which investment options for Q8 as an oil marketing company would be explored.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed the longstanding and friendly cooperation between Pakistan and Kuwait in the petroleum sector. Various areas of mutual cooperation were explored, with an emphasis on enhancing existing partnerships and identifying new avenues for collaboration across the petroleum sector.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and agreed to continue close coordination to advance shared objectives in the petroleum sectors, building on the strong foundation of cooperation between Pakistan and Kuwait.

The Minister of Kuwait hosted a lunch in honour of the visiting Pakistani delegation at Waldorf Astoria subsequent to the meeting. Ends
