ISLAMABAD : Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are likely to discuss a proposal of a road map for ” electrical interconnection” project between both countries.
Well informed sources told NewzShewz that during a sectoral meeting on energy held between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in August 2024 within the format Joint Task Force for economic engagement, the Saudi side proposed a roadmap for electrical interconnection.
In addition to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreed by the two sides, the Saudi side also expressed interest to sign an instrument in this area during the course of 2024.
Prime Minister Office (PMO) has desired that the Petroleum Division, Power Division and Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) should share a report on the Saudi proposal, with the Prime Minister Office, at the earliest.
According to sources, a number of pacts are likely be signed during the visit of high level business delegation led by Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Investment, Khalid al-Falih from October 9-11, 2024.
The sources further stated that top brass of about three dozen Saudi Companies are also accompanying the Investment Minister, who will discuss avenues of investment in Pakistan on Business to Business (B2B) basis.
Six Saudi Companies have shown keen interest in energy sector and MoUs are expected to be signed between both countries which will be converted into agreements with due course of time.
