ISLAMABAD : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has selected Pakistan as a partner country for a new three-year Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) program.

According to Danish Ambassador to Pakistan Jacob Linulf, this  initiative, implemented by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA), will commence on January 1, 2026 and aims to enhance the technical capacity of Pakistani energy authorities.

The SSC program for Pakistan will  focus on the following key areas: (i) long-term sector modeling and planning;(ii) integration of variable renewable energy  ; and (iii) energy efficiency in the industrial sector.

To mark the beginning of this cooperation, a high- level Danish delegation led by Mr. Carl-Christian Munk-Nielson, Director of Global Cooperation at the DEA, will visit Pakistan  on August 18-22, 2025.

The purpose of the mission is to engage with all relevant stakeholders, introduce the SSC program, and gain insight into the objectives and mandates of Pakistan  energy authorities particularly in light of recent organisational changes. These interactions will assist in tailoring future trainings and workshops under the SSC program .

According to Danish Ambassador to Pakistan  since National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) is branched into National Grid Company  (NGC), Independent System and Market Operator  (ISMO)  and Energy Infrastructure Development & Management Company (EIDMC), Denmark believes that all three institutions could be primary partners in the new SSC program.

In this regard. Danish Embassy has requested the concerned authorities to facilitate meetings between the visiting delegation and current management NGC, ISMO and EIDMC on  August 18, 2025.

Danish Ambassador is of the view that these  discussions will serve as an opportunity to present the SSC initiative and receive valuable feedback for future coordination.
