ISLAMABAD : The Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) has sought positive adjustment of Paisa 82 per unit in FCA for May 2026. to recover additional amount of over Rs 10 billion from consumers of Discos and K-Electric.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has scheduled a public hearing on June 30, 2026.
The price of local coal generation stood at Rs 11.1849 per unit , imported coal Rs 17.9497 per unit, RFO Rs 42.1809 per unit, Gas
13.6315 per unit, RLNG Rs 30.6457 per unit, nuclear, 2.701 per unit, import from Iran Rs 31.9341 per unit and baggasse Rs 10.8821 per unit.
According to Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guaranteed (CPPA-G) has calculated an increase of Paisa 0.8173 over the reference fuel cost of Rs 8.4315/kWh. The adjustment has been requested under the monthly FCA mechanism provided in NEPRA’s tariff determinations in line with Section 31(7) of the NEPRA Act.
Data submitted by CPPA-G shows that total energy generation in May 2026 stood at 12,638 Gwh, at an average fuel cost of Rs 9.0857 per unit . After accounting for adjustments, including transmission losses and prior period corrections, net electricity delivered to DISCOs was recorded at 12,335 Gwh, with a cost of Rs 9.2488 per unit The generation mix indicates hydel remained the largest contributor with over 33 percent share, followed by nuclear (14.25 percent), imported coal (13.54 percent), RLNG (11.81 percent), and local coal (11.66 percent). Electricity generated from furnace oil , gas, wind, solar, and bagasse contributed smaller shares to the overall mix, though some sources reflected significantly higher per unit costs.
According to the federal government’s policy guidelines on uniform FCA application, the adjustment determined for DISCOs will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers.
