ISLAMABAD: K-Electric (KE) has urged the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) to promptly execute the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) for the 132 kV Grid Station at Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP) to prevent further delays in the project timeline.
In a letter addressed to PIDC CEO Rizwan Bhatti, KE referred to its earlier communication dated March 12, 2025, concerning the signing of the Grid Agreement between both parties for the establishment of the 132 kV Grid Station at BQIP, Karachi.
The matter was also discussed during a site visit to BQIP on May 9, 2025. KE subsequently shared the minutes of that meeting with PIDC on June 13, 2025. However, despite repeated follow-ups and reminders, PIDC has yet to respond to the points listed in Annexure A, leaving the matter unresolved.
During the site meeting, PIDC had informed KE that a revised PC-1 had been submitted to the Planning Commission and the relevant Ministry. However, no confirmation of the revised load demand—critical for project progression—has been received from PIDC to date.
KE noted that despite several reminders, it has not received any formal response regarding the execution of the PSA. Nonetheless, KE continues to provide technical support for extension works at its Pipri West Grid Station to facilitate BQIP, reaffirming its commitment to the project’s timely completion.
“We are now constrained to issue this letter, urging PIDC to take immediate and effective action to expedite the signing of the agreement and fulfill the outstanding requirements outlined in this and previous correspondences,” KE stated, reiterating its commitment to maintaining a long-standing and constructive relationship with PIDC.
“We sincerely hope this matter will be addressed with the urgency and seriousness it warrants to avoid further escalation or disruption to the project timeline,” the letter concluded.
