NA Committee demands swift action against LESCO’s identified corrupt officials

ISLAMABAD : The National Assembly Standing Committee on Power has directed the Power Division to complete  inquiry report regarding alleged involvement of  LESCO officers in corrupt practices and penalize them within two weeks.

 The issue came under discussion during the previous meeting of Standing Committee. Power Division has also submitted written  information about involvement of officers of LESCO in corrupt practices.

 According to the report shared with the Committee, the following officers of LESCO were allegedly found involved in corrupt practices ;(i) Habib Ahmed, Assistant Manager ( corrupt practices/ extracting money from subordinates ) compulsory retired from service from January 14, 2025 ;(ii) Faisal  Asharf, Deputy Manager, LESCO Headquarters( he takes monthly shares from his subordinates in connection with electricity theft) ;(iii) Adil Nasim, Assistant Manager, Walton S/D(  involved in misappropriation LESCO material worth Rs 190.7 million ;(iv) Zulfiqar Ali, Assistant Manager, Sodiwal S/D( involved in misappropriation LESCO material worth Rs 190.7 million ;(v) Zubair Sarwar, Deputy Manager, Gulberg Division ( involved in misappropriation of LESCO funds) ;(vi) Abdul Jabbar , Revenue Officer, attached with Kasur Circle ( over billing and charging detection bills illegally ) ;(vii) Syed Sherraz Ahmed, Deputy Commercial Manager, Central Circle( over billing and charging detection bills illegally) ;(viii) Shujat Ali, Deputy Manager, Shahkot Division( involved in facilitation of electricity theft and meter tempering ) ;(ix) Ijaz Ahmed Bhutta, Assistant Manager, Bara Ghar S/D (involved in facilitation of electricity theft and meter tempering) ;(x) Muhammad Jamal, Deputy Manager, DMO Ranala Division, ( corruption charges with respect to net metering and new domestic / commercial connections ; and (xi) Muhammad Arif, Acting Assistant Manager, Narang, Mandi S/D( involved in facilitation of electricity theft and receiving gratification.

 The Committee was further informed that inquiry committees have already been constituted against the officers involved in corrupt practice and action will be taken accordingly.
