ISLAMABAD : Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) is reportedly facing charges of substandard civil work of 58 HT Structures meant for external electrification of 58 of Takbeer-1 project, sources told Newzshewz.
The Directorate of Civil Works Organization (CWO), Chaklala, Rawalpindi has informed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman BoD of IESCO about the scam and proposed constitution of Inquiry Committee to probe it.
According to a letter, top brass of Iesco has been apprised that premises is very sensitive and wants some personal attention towards execution. They have been further informed that during random checking carried out by its experts deputed for same purpose, it is observed that provision of foundation and concreting to 58 feet HT steel structures is not according to Iesco design and completely against, the required as well as approved material i.e. cement crushs and steel is being not provided according to approved rates for which we have already paid. In future 05 No feeders/circuits will be constructed on these structures but the current ratio of civil work carried out by contractor is not satisfied and its fear that these structures will be fell down during normal wind and storm. The same situation if occurred in future the same will be not only bad image for IESCO but create a lot of problem for our organization besides cause of any fatal / non-fatal accident.
Therefore, the CWO has requested to constitute a special committee to examine the executed civil work and use of steel in the foundation of HT 58 feet pole and also direct the respective PD Construction, XEN Construction and SDO Construction Islamabad who are executing the work for completion of work according to WAPDA SDI and improve the quality of already executed work.
The Committee should be comprised of representative from Operation Director Iesco, representative from FIA, representative from CWO/SPD and Audit Officer from Audit Formation to probe the matter.
