ISLAMABAD: Moscow and Islamabad are strengthening their diplomatic and economic relations following the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this year.
The significance of these leaders is underscored by a series of high-level visits, beginning with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and several Deputy Ministers, who discussed economic cooperation across various fields. Following this, Pakistan’s Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Aleem Khan, made a crucial visit to Moscow, where he engaged in fruitful discussions on future economic collaboration.
Another significant visit from Moscow was that of the Russian Prime Minister, who attended the recent SCO Summit in Islamabad, where economic cooperation issues were addressed.
Sources indicate that the upcoming visit of Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to Islamabad is particularly important. Official sources expect this visit to mark a pivotal moment in the growing diplomatic and parliamentary ties between the two nations.
During her stay, Matvienko is scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in addition to addressing a special session of the Senate tomorrow.
