ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Power Division to immediately file a request for review with NEPRA regarding the protection of contracts of existing solar consumers, so as to ensure maximum possible protection of current agreements.
The Prime Minister further directed the Power Division to formulate a comprehensive strategy to ensure that the burden of 466,000 solar consumers does not fall on more than 37.6 million consumers who use electricity solely from the national grid.
A high-level special meeting, convened under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding NEPRA’s issuance of new regulations, was held today in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar; Federal Ministers Ahsan Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Sardar Awais Khan Leghari; Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani; Adviser on Privatization Muhammad Ali; and other relevant senior officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that after issuance of notification of prosumer ( from net metering to net billing) and fixing new rates for the new consumers and repealing of previous rules, there is a hue and cry across the country including the Parliament.

According to one of the participants of meeting, Prime Minister has directed that recent changes made in net metering regulations by NEPRA should be reviewed.
