KE’s Dhabeji grid station energization  due this month

ISLAMABAD : K-Electric (KE) has started comprehensive study to ascertain maximum offtake of power to be evacuated by it from 220 kV Dhabeji interconnection.

  This has been informed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KE, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi in a letter to Managing Director PPIB, Shah Jahan Mirza. 

 KE has written the letter with reference to a letter from PPIB referenced of July 30, 2024, wherein the action items of the meeting convened on  January 04 and  June 13,  2024 have been mentioned. The letter also seeks an update on the completion of K-Electric Limited (KE)’s 220 kV  Dhabeji grid station and its connection to NTDC’s  Jhimpir-II grid station along with the confirmation of maximum power capacity that can be evacuated through this arrangement.

According to  Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi as conveyed during the referenced meeting of  June 13 2024, chaired by PPIB, and attended by the representatives from KE, National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) and Central Power Purchasing Agency -Guaranteed (CPPA-G), KE’s 220 kV  Dhabeji grid station was successfully energized on January 18, 2024, the interconnection with NTDC through transmission line is in final stages and its energization is expected soon within this month.

With regards to the power evacuation capacity,  KE has informed  it is presently engaged with NTDC on a study to evaluate the maximum power transfer capability of KE under present network arrangement. 

The power utility company is of the view that this comprehensive study has been commissioned to a reputable consultant and is expected to be completed within the coming two  months. The outcome of this study shall precisely ascertain the maximum offtake of power that can be evacuated by KE from the 220 kV Dhabeji interconnection, and these results shall be promptly communicated to PPIB.
