Hydel generation increases by 10.25% in November 2025 YoY basis

ISLAMABAD: The country’s hydel generation has posted an increase of 10.25% to 3,153 GWh in November 2025 as compared to 2,860 GWh in November 2024. This was accounted for 39.16 % of total electricity generated during the month.
According to CPPA-G data overall electricity generation has recorded 0.22 % increase to 8,050 GWh in November verses 8,032 GWh in corresponding month of 2024.
CPPA-G has requested a negative adjustment of Rs 0.72 per unit under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) mechanism for November 2025. The proposed adjustment would enable the refund of Rs 5.6 billion to the consumers across the country, including those served by K-Electric.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is scheduled to hold a public hearing on December 31, 2025, to examine CPPA-G’s request. The hearing will also provide an opportunity for consumer representatives to express their views on the proposed FCA adjustment.
Electricity generation from gas-based power plants was recorded 680 GWh (8.44 percent) at Rs 14.3396 per unit against 858 GWh in same month of 2024, showing a declined of 21 % per cent. Generation from imported coal was 407 GWh (5.06 per cent of total generation) as compared to 477 GWh in November, showing a decline of 14,7 per cent. The rate of imported -coal generation was Rs 14.1350.
Electricity generation from local coal stood at 752 GWh( 9.34 per cent of total generation) at a rate of Rs 17.7669 Kwh in November 2025 against 1,019 GWH, showing a decline of 26 per cent. Generation from HSD and RFO was nil in November.
Generation from RLNG was 696, GWh (8.64 percent of total generation) at Rs 21.5789 per unit against 907 GWh in November, showing a decline of 23 per cent.
Electricity generation from nuclear sources was 2,1031 GWh at Rs 2.12706 per unit (25.23 percent of total generation) compared with 1,655 GWh in November 2024, posting an increase of 22.7 per cent.
Electricity imported from Iran was 35 GWh at Rs 22.5729 per unit in November 2025 as compared to 37 GWh per unit. The data further shows that net delivered electricity was 7,813 GWh in November 2025 at a rate of Rs 6.1621 per unit against 7,716 GWh in November 2024, showing an increase of 1.26 per cent . Ends
