ISLAMABAD: The country’s hydel generation has posted a decline of 15 per cent to 2,705 GWh in October 2025 as compared to 3,187 GWh in October 2024. This was 27.36 % accounted for 37.99 of the total electricity generated during the month.
According to CPPA-G data overall electricity generation has recorded 3.7 per cent decline to 9,886 GWh in October 2025 verses 10,262 GWh in corresponding month of 2024.
CPPA-G has requested a negative adjustment of Rs 0.65 per unit under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) mechanism for October 2025. The proposed adjustment would enable the refund of Rs 6.27 billion to the consumers across the country, including those served by K-Electric.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is scheduled to hold a public hearing on November 27, 2025, to examine CPPA-G’s request. The hearing will also provide an opportunity for consumer representatives to express their views on the proposed FCA adjustment.
Electricity generation from gas-based power plants was recorded 905 GWh (9.16 percent) at Rs 13.3635 per unit against 826 GWh in same month of 2024, showing an increase of 9.6 per cent. Generation from imported coal was 466 GWh (4.71 per cent of total generation) as compared to 903 GWh in October 2024, showing a decline of 49 per cent. The rate of imported -coal generation was Rs 14.3874 per unit.
Generation from RFO was 48 GWh against 02 GWh in October 2024, constituting an increase of 2300 per cent. However, generation from HSD was zero during the month. Generation from RLNG was 1,949 GWh (19.72 percent of total generation) at Rs 21.0611 per unit against 2,003 GWh in October 2024, showing a decline of 2.7 per cent.
Electricity generation from nuclear sources was 2,188 GWh at Rs 2.1728 per unit (12.13 percent of total generation) compared with 1,442 GWh in October 2024, posting an increase of 52 per cent.
Electricity imported from Iran was 43 GWh at Rs 22.7572 per unit in October 2025 as compared to 42 GWh at Rs 25..3291 per unit. The data further shows that net delivered electricity was 9,630 GWh in October 2025 at a rate of Rs 8.7177 per unit against 19,981 GWh in October 2024, showing a decline of 3.5 per cent . Ends
