ISLAMABAD: In a significant push to enhance Pakistan’s export footprint, a high-level delegation from the National Logistics Cell (NLC) and global logistics giant DP World met with Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan to present plans for the groundbreaking “Pakistan Mart” project in the UAE.
Led by NLC’s Director General, the delegation included DP World Vice Chairman and CEO of the Pakistan Mart Project, Fakhr Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister Rana Ihsaan Afzal, and Executive Director General of the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Ashraf.
The meeting centered around the proposed Pakistan Mart, a state-of-the-art commercial hub to be developed near Jebel Ali, UAE. The project is being positioned as a flagship platform for Pakistani exporters and traders to gain direct access to Gulf, African, and global markets.
DP World has committed to constructing the entire facility at zero cost to Pakistani stakeholders—an unprecedented offer of support aimed at accelerating Pakistan’s export-led growth.
The facility will feature a wide range of commercial infrastructure, including warehouses, retail shops, showrooms, and e-commerce fulfillment centers. It is envisioned as a one-stop destination for showcasing Made-in-Pakistan products to international buyers.
Terming it a “transformational project,” Minister Jam Kamal said the mart could be a game-changer for sectors like textiles, garments, surgical instruments, sports goods, food items, perishables, and nutraceuticals. He highlighted the importance of integrating e-commerce and logistics services to fully capture the potential of digital exports.
The Minister directed the Ministry of Commerce and relevant bodies, including the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), to urgently mobilize resources to support the initiative. He also assured the delegation of the government’s full cooperation in identifying and facilitating export-ready enterprises to be part of the mart.
The delegation urged the Ministry to assist in tenant selection, run awareness campaigns, and empower Pakistani exporters to seize this “golden opportunity.”
With the Pakistan Mart project, Islamabad aims to not only diversify its exports but also cement its position in the region’s trade and economic diplomacy.
