Privatisation Ministry seeks inclusion of six petroleum companies in priority privatisation list

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Privatisation has requested the inclusion of six petroleum sector companies in the priority list of the privatisation program through the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs), informed sources told Newzshewz.
The following state-owned entities (SOEs), which are part of the 84 entities considered by the Privatisation Division during the privatisation program exercise, have not yet been considered by the CCoSOEs: ;(i) Pak-Arab Refinery Company Limited (PARCO) ;(ii) Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) ;(iii) Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) ;(iv) Pakistan State Oil (PSO) ;(v) Genco Holding Company Limited (GHCL); and (vi) State Petroleum Refining and Petrochemical Corporation (SPRPC).
On March 4, 2025, the recently replaced Privatisation Minister, had expressed his hope that sell-off process of PIA will be completed in three months. Privatisation Ministry, has not succeeded in find a potential buyer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) despite making many claims.
Power Division has also been asked to approach CCoSOEs for inclusion of Private Power and infrastructure Board (PPIB) and Pakistan Electric Company Limited (PECL) in the priority list whereas Railways Division to send the name of Pakistan Railways.
Communication Division to share the name of National Highways Authority (NHA), Finance Division- National Investment Trust Limited (NITL), Information Technology and Telecommunication Division- Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) and Planning, Development and Special Initiatives- Sindh Infrastructure Development Company (SIDC).
Ministry of Privatisation, in its communication has requested the administrative Ministries/ Divisions to place the proposals before the CCoSOEs for its consideration on priority basis.
