ISLAMABAD : M/s Huawei Pakistan has shown its keen interest in automation of Pakistan electricity distribution system through intelligent distribution solutions as a pilot project to sort out power sector’s current issues.
In a letter to Power Minister, Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, Mr. Pan Feng, Deputy CEO, Enterprise Business Group, Huawei, Pakistan has stated that elimination of electricity theft and minimization of line losses is directly proportional to GDP growth of any country as it will ensure reliable electricity availability at a reasonable cost to industries, commercial and domestic users.
According to him, Huawei Smart Grid & Intelligence Distribution System has following capabilities: – (i) eliminate electricity theft ;(ii) reduced line losses ;(iii) digitization of electricity billing ;(iv) transformer protection & monitoring ;(v) real time electricity distribution monitoring at all levels ;(vi) real time fault detection;(vii) solar panel power generation management;(viii) electric vehicle charging management ;and (ix) consolidate data for better decision making.
The Deputy CEO of the Huawei has further stated that the Company has presented above Intelligent Distribution Solution to Special Task Force on energy reforms on 12 February 2025 which liked the proposal and to further evaluate the solution an elaborated meeting was held at PPMC office on February 14, 2025.
To take the process ahead , Huawei Pakistan has submitted the following proposals: – (i) Huawei intends to conduct Intelligent Distribution solution proof of concept at Pakistan. For this purpose, a committee be constituted who can coordinate the conduct of the pilot project and also evaluate the performance of Huawei Intelligent Distribution solution ; and (ii) to obtain first hand user experience Huawei invites Ministry of Energy (Power Division) members for a visit to China and Saudi Arabia, where Huawei Intelligent Distribution system is deployed and being successfully operated by respective state grid companies.
