ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s exports grew by 10.5% to $16.561 billion during the first half (July-December) of the 2024-25 fiscal year, up from $14.985 billion in the corresponding period of FY 2023-24.
According to provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), imports increased by 6.11%, reaching $27.733 billion, compared to $26.137 billion during the same period.
The trade deficit narrowed by 0.18%, amounting to $11.172 billion, compared to $11.152 billion during the first half of the current fiscal year.
In December 2024, exports grew by 0.67%, reaching $2.841 billion, up from $2.822 billion in December 2023. Meanwhile, imports surged by 14.02%, rising to $5.285 billion from $4.636 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of $2.444 billion, an increase of 32.8% from $1.813 billion in December 2023.
Exports also saw a slight increase of 0.28% in December 2024 compared to November 2024, while imports grew by 17.44%, reaching $5.285 billion in December 2024, up from $4.5 billion in November 2024. The trade deficit in December 2024 stood at $2.444 billion, compared to $1.667 billion in November 2024, reflecting a growth of 46.61%.
