ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Ghulamullah Shaikh as Member (Law) of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a period of three years with immediate effect.
The position of Member Sindh was vacant after Rafique Ahmad Shaikh’s retirement after completing his two terms.
Mr. Shaikh was a very active Member NEPRA whose contribution in power sector improvement is being discussed at different forums.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Establishment Division, on August 12, 2026, Sheikh has been appointed under Section 3(2)(c)(ii) of the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997.
The notification said the appointment would be on monthly pay and emoluments equivalent to the median of MP-I scale, along with admissible prerequisites.
The appointment has been made under the Cabinet Division and will remain effective for three years, unless further orders are issued by the federal government.
The Federal government is yet to appoint Member NEPRA from Balochistan. Ends
