ISLAMABAD: With increased indent by Indus River System Authority (IRSA) from the water reservoirs, WAPDA hydel generation surpassed 6000 MW, as its Hydel Power Stations provided 6118 MW electricity to the National Grid during peak hours last night.
According to the details, Tarbela Hydel Power Station contributed 2332 MW, Tarbela 4th Extension 1095 MW, Ghazi Barotha 1160 MW, Mangla 930 MW, Warsak 135 MW, Chashma 101 MW; while remining 365 MW electricity was generated by WAPDA’s other medium and small Hydel Power Stations.
It is important to note that WAPDA’s hydel electricity is the most affordable clean and green energy in the National Grid and it subsidises the entire energy sector in Pakistan. Ends
